Welcome to the Surinder Singh Files website. On this site, you can find cover letter templates, blank and filled-in sample forms and other files which may be of use to you at any stage of your Surinder Singh journey. The following is a summary of the different sections:
Schengen/C Visa Letters: This section contains cover letter templates to accompany the initial short-stay Schengen or C visa application for the chosen SS host country.
FP Cover Letters: This section contains different FP cover letter templates from successful applicants. It is recommended to change these into your own words as much as possible, change the order of paragraphs and use a thesaurus to change words, because too many applicants were submitting identical letters and UKVI were getting suspicious and making long, intrusive phone calls asking where the applicant got the cover letter. Angela V's example is probably the best because of its simplicity.
Completed FP's: This section contains samples of FP's that have been filled in online, then printed out. These were from successful applicants, and may help you with some of the trickier questions.
Certificate of Application (CoA) Letters: This section contains letter templates that you may send when given an incorrect (short) CoA which doesn't confirm your ability to work. E.g. when UKVI have made a mistake and accused applicant in the short CoA of not sending enough evidence when they indeed did. These letters request the correct (long) CoA confirming applicant's right to work.
UK RC Letters: This section contains cover letter templates to accompany the UK Residence Card from successful applicants. It is not mandatory to use a cover letter, instead some applicants use a table of contents with columns explaining what each document is, and what it is proof of. This section also contains some Asking for Reconsideration of RC Refusal letter templates, which is the first letter you should send when you are refused a Residence Card. Initial RC refusals are annoyingly common, even for applicants who already have a family permit, in most cases it is the fault of the caseworker(s).
Completed/Blank RC Applications: It is NOT mandatory to complete an EEA (FM) form or any other version such as EEA2. However, it MAY make it easier for the caseworker, and MAY be higher chance of success, if applicant completes form. Will update with a filled-in sample when I have one. Currently I only have a blank EEA2 form, which was used up until 19 February 2015, but some applicants are choosing to use it after that date.
